Fabregas pulls strings for Spain

Having just turned 19, the highly talented Cesc Fabregas invariably receives rave reviews whenever he takes to the field. In last Monday’s encounter, it was the quick-thinking teenager who unpicked the lock of a tight Tunisian rearguard to help his side to three valuable points.

The Arsenal man played an instrumental part in Spain’s opening goal when his firm drive was parried by the goalkeeper into the path of Raul, who made no mistake from close range. He followed up just minutes later with a perfect through-ball that allowed Fernando Torres to give Spain the lead.

“There’s no better feeling in the world for me than setting up a goal. I was lucky and I’m delighted with what I did, but I’m also very satisfied with the way we performed overall. I thought we played exceptionally well,” Fabregas told FIFAworldcup.com.

Even Spain coach Luis Aragones, a man not known for his appraisals of individual players, was full of admiration for the youngster after the game. “He interpreted the game to perfection.
