Radoi available for Romania again
Date: 14-02-2006 01:03
Mirel Radoi's international exile appeared to have ended on Monday when Romanian coach Victor Piturca said the Steaua Bucharest player could be selected after he walked out on the squad last June.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder was banned by Piturca after he quit a training camp without permission, citing an injury, ahead of the World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands.

"Piturca authorised me to tell you that Radoi can be called into the national team squad again," a Romanian federation spokesman told reporters.

Radoi has played 33 matches for Romania and scored one goal.

He could be selected to play for Romania in a tournament in Cyprus starting on Feb. 28, which also involves the hosts, Armenia and Slovenia.

Romania failed to qualify for this year's World Cup finals in Germany after finishing third behind the Netherlands and the Czech Republic in their group.

They begin their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign in September and are drawn in Group G with Albania, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belarus and Slovenia.
