Reyna set to return this weekend
Date: 04-03-2006 10:46
MANCHESTER, England (AP) - Claudio Reyna is set to return from a broken ankle in Manchester City's Premier League game against Sunderland on Saturday.

The U.S. captain has been sidelined since Dec. 26 after surgery on his right ankle. He played in a reserves match on Monday and is likely to start in place of suspended midfielder Joey Barton.

"It was nice to get some minutes under my belt with the reserves. It felt good, and everything went well,'' Reyna said. "Now I just need to keep working on my fitness - but it was nice to be back.''

Reyna said it won't bother him to be playing against his former club, which is struggling at the bottom of the league

"It just happens to be like that,'' Reyna said. "It doesn't make any difference to me. It's just worked out that way. I was pushing to be back for the Liverpool game and it was just a little bit too soon. So Sunday just happens to be one of my former clubs, and it's always nice to get a good reception from the fans. I got a good reception when I played there this season, and that was nice.''
